Book of Legends

It all came to pass in 919

It happened whilst Heinrich I was snaring birds in Quedlinburg, some time in 919, that the Saxon duke was offered the German crown. Eleven centuries later Quedlinburg is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and contemporaries call it “Germany’s book of legends”.

Harz Mountains

The Stage for World History

Hundreds of time-hallowed attractions bear witness to the fact that the Harz region has been the “stage for world history” – from the Middle Ages until Germany’s reunification. Nowhere else in Germany there is so much opportunity for holidays so close by.
