Year of the Salians 2011
With a “Year of the Salians 2011” the Diocese and the City of Speyer celebrate three important anniversaries: 950 years ago the Cathedral was consecrated, 900 years ago Heinrich V was crowned Emperor and 900 years ago the city was given its town charter.

For the first time ever the Historical Museum of the Palatinate presents the dramatic biographies of the Salian emperors in a centennial exhibition bearing the title “The Salians – Transience of Power”, which highlights the epoch-making new developments they caused with their policies.
